City closing in on midfield signing

Hit by injuries to Scimeca and Rae, Jones is struggling in central midfield with Joe Ledley filling in alongside Steve McPhail yesterday at Bramall Lane.

"There will be one player in before the transfer window closes on Monday - and I don't expect any out." Jones said.

"There has not been any bid for players apart from those which came out this week.

"I don't expect any players to go out before the transfer window closes. The chairman has been true to his word and nobody will be going out. We don't think it's right to sell and we are keeping this squad together. I am after a player and I hope he will be in by Monday.

"We had our 'fire sale' a long time ago now. In all we have sold £27.5m worth of talent - and clubs are still coming in for our players. But we are sticking together. There is a great feeling around the club right now, a real buzz."

It's being suggested that it was W.B.A. who offered £4m for Roger Johnson and Stoke who offered £5m for Joe Ledley. Both players look set to stay but Steve Thompson could still possibly go. He got a few mins action yesterday but is still linked to Plymouth and Burnley.

Once the window closes on Monday night City then have a week to waut before they can sign domestic loan players. Therefore we will still have oportunities to bring in new players before our next game agianst Bristol City on September 13th.
