Reports today claimed that Feyenoord defender Glen Loovens had decided to move to Ninian Park on a seasons long loan. There had been no official confirmation on this until tonight when the official Feyenoord website says

Glenn Loovens has joined Cardiff City on loan with immediate effect. The Welsh club have taken on the Rotterdammer for one season. It’s a dream come true for Loovens, who is excited about playing in the UK. ‘The times I’ve played there have made an impression on me. So I’m glad about this.

A Dutch view on the player says

Glenn is a big strong right footed central defender who is very good in the air and reasonably well on the ball. He has played a lot of league and european games for Feyenoord especially in the year when Feyenoord won the Uefa Cup and since then he unfortanetly hasn't been given the opportunity to shine. He has been sent on loan to De Graafschap the final half of last season and he played quite well there. He's an extremely nice guy who will fit in at Cardiff without any problems.

some stats:

2004/05 De Graafschap 11 appearances

2003/04 Excelsior 24
