Cardiff moved to the top of Division 2 with a hard fought 1 - 0 win over Mansfield at Field Mill. Peter Thorne scored his third goal in two games to secure the points. City were made to battle for their reward but a 1 - 0 win is worth 3 points in anyones book and with other results going our was we are top of the table.

Leaders Wigan were held 1 - 1 at home by Q.P.R. and as a result the Latics drop to 4th place. They have been overtaken by Odham and Bristol City who both had home wins tonight.

Rangers are 5th while Crewe and Blackpool lost ground by losing at home.

City started the day in second place in a top 7 that was seperated by only 4 points. Now the Bluebirds are top and they are 7 points ahead of Blackpool in 7th.

Mansfield remain bottom with City's next opponents Peterborough just 3 points and two places off the last place in Division 2. City are massive favourites to go on and get a 9 point treble.
