City head to Portugal

This hastily arranged tour replaced the cancelled Madeira Tournament that fell through just a couple of weeks ago.

While in Portugal City will face 2nd division side Fatima on Wednesday, ko 5:00pm, Fatima is located some 75 miles north of Lisbon. The second game will be on Saturday morning at 11am against a President's Select XI. That match will take place in Alcochete in the Setubal region of Lisbon.

The only players missing from the trip are Warren Feeney, Riccy Scimeca and Darcy Blake, all injured.

Youngsters Josh Magennis, Adam Matthews and Aaron Morris are on the trip. All three played against Chasetown last Friday with Magennis and Matthews both on the scoresheet. New signingings David Marshall, Paul Quinn, Mark Hudson and Anthony Gerrard and the remander of last seasons squad are all there in Lisbon. Dave Jons has also taken triallist Maros Klimpl after he played against Chasetown at the end of his first week on trial. Jones wants to see more of him and Klimpl has the chance to impress while they are away.

While the players and most of the backroom staff and media had the luxury of flying, spare a thought for a couple of the lads who brought the kit and equipment in a van. They left Cardiff after the Chasetown game on Friday and via the English Channel, France and Spain arrived in Portugal on Sunday afternoon.

Updates and news from Portugal when available.
