City in talks with Rangers defender

Tony Vidmar
Vidmar, 33, was released by the Glasgow giants at the end of last season. He is extremely experienced with 48 international caps for Australia and he has appeared for Rangers in over 100 SPL games (inc 24 last season) as well as playing in the Uefa Cup and the Champions League.

Lennie Lawrence is quoted as saying

"We will be speaking to Vidmar in the next 24 hours and and we stay positive on all our negotiations with players at this stage".

Vidmar becomes the second player in talks with the Bluebirds. Left midfielder Gareth Whalley was in Cardiff last night for discussions. Both players are free agents and could sign for City with no transfer fees. It was reported back in April that Vidmar was offered a one year contract extention but I assume that was never taken up.

Vidmar is listed as a defender but is reported to be able to play anwhere.

Mickell Bell, the Bristol City player linked to Cardiff is on the verge of a move to 2nd division rivals Luton Town. The clubs are said to have agreed a £750,000 fee for the left back.
