City legend Clark says City need a winger

"Lennie needs another player, someone who can give the team more options," Clark told the Western Mail. "He needs a winger on the right-hand side because at the moment Cardiff are kicking the ball down the middle too much."

"They are missing something and if the match becomes tight, as it did against Bristol, Cardiff don't have anyone who can open it up. Bristol have got a wide player, Scott Murray, and look what he does for them. That's the sort of player Cardiff could do with."

Clark watched City's game against Bristol City and his comments sum up the feeling of nearly all City fans. We really struggle in right midfield.

Clark's goal against Madrid was a peach of header after a cross from the left wing. Peter Thorne would relish the type of ball Clark scored from, with width on both sides of the pitch City would give themselves more options and Thorne would benefit from better service.

Clark was not happy with Lennie making so many changes to the team

"The team seems to be changing all the time. At Bournemouth Lennie made eight changes to the previous team. I know it was only a LDV Vans Trophy game but was there a need to make so many changes? I think if you keep changing the side you lose rhythm and momentum."

Graham Kavanagh and Peter Thorne were singled out by the former Bluebird for critisism as well

"Kavanagh is the pack leader at Ninian Park yet I didn't see anything from him in the first 20 minutes against Bristol City. He's the man who makes Cardiff tick. He pulls the strings and we all know he's got the ability. I was waiting for him to do something special but it never came.

"To me, Kavanagh looks slow and ponderous. He's not doing it at the moment and he's certainly not the player he was last season. He runs heavily. I don't remember him looking that heavy last season. Midfield is the hardest position in the team and midfielders shouldn't have an ounce of fat on them.

"As for Thorne, he didn't win much in the air on Saturday. If I played like he did against Bristol City, Jimmy Scoular would have been screaming at me."

Clark still thinks City will get promoted but warned

"Watch Bristol City. Danny knows his best side and they've got three forwards who are scoring goals."
