City march on. Website reaction.

Legg was unmarked as he powered his perfect header past the sprawling Paul Smith on 28 mins. Some cracking passing football helped set up Earnie's sublime chip on 73 mins. Part of the move included a 40 yard Hoddlesque pass from Rhys Weston to Andy Legg and as the ball worked it's way back to Weston on the right he chipped forward for Earnie to dash in and fron 20 yards away on the right hand side of the box the little striker looped the ball over Smith and it bounced into the net. Both goals were of the highest quality.

City showed heart and passion tonight. The performance was not quite as fluent as Saturday but the result was the same. Brentford are a bloody big side. City were drawn into a more physical game and they competed well. They were not aided by a referee who appeared to give everything to Brentford. It felt like we were being penalised for being the home team and being a goal up. Free kicks were awarded for the slightest touches, and when City did get a decision in their favour the cheer was almost as loud as the goal celebrations.

Brentford were two points ahead of City before the game but the Bluebirds win has seen them move up 4 places to 4th and we are now 2 points behind leaders Wigan with a game in hand. Wigan have 19 points, Q.P.R in second, Oldham in third and City in 4th all have 17 points. City though have played a game less.

City started with an unchanged line up. Gareth Whalley was fit again and they made only one substitution, Campbell came on for the jubilant Earnbshaw with several minutes left. I commented on Campbell's poor effort in his 5 minutes on the pitch on Saturday. Tonight I commend him for his aggression and committment in the 5 mins he had tonight. Much better Andy. Well done.

It's Notts County next, fans can pay at the gate at Meadow Lane on Saturday. We've not lost away since last February, lets keep that run going and try to go into the next three games on the back of a 3 game winning streak. The games after Notts County are Plymouth away, Crewe at home and then Spurs. Just after that we have current leaders Wigan away.
