City must win as rivals face top three

Last updated : 17 March 2005 By Michael Morris
After a poor week in terms of other results City can hope for better things this weekend.

We face Crewe, a game that we have to win and if we do we can expect help elsewhere.

The three teams immediately below us face the top three in the division.

This weekends fixtures are

18 March 2005
West Ham v Leicester, 19:45

19 March 2005
Cardiff v Crewe, 13:00
Gillingham v Ipswich, 15:00
Nottm Forest v Wigan, 15:00
Rotherham v QPR, 15:00
Sheff Utd v Burnley, 15:00
Sunderland v Coventry, 15:00
Watford v Preston, 15:00
Wolverhampton v Stoke, 15:00

20 March 2005
Millwall v Plymouth, 14:00

21 March 2005
Brighton v Reading, 19:45

Derby and Leeds are the only two Championship teams not playing this weekend.

Gillingham and Forest will be hoping to contain Ipswich and Wigan respectively. I can only see one outcome though for Coventry as they travel to Sunderland.

Just above us Leicester travel to West Ham. Come on you Hammers. This match is live on Sky Sports 3 on Friday evening. Brighton are at home to Reading on Monday night. That game is live on Sky Sports 1 from The Withdean.

Victory over Crewe would see us go above them and possibly Plymouth if they lose at Millwall on Sunday.

Best case scenario this weekend is City in 16th place and a maximum of 3 points above 22nd place. Worse case scenario would see us occupying 22nd place.

The game against Crewe on Saturday kicks off at 1:00pm. The bars in the main Grandstand will stay open for fans who wish to remain at the ground to watch the Wales v Ireland rugby international that kicks off at 3.30pm from the Millennium Stadium. Wales will take the Grand Slam with a victory over the Irish.

Beer prices have been reduced for those who decide to watch the game from Ninian Park and food prices will also be reduced with a Faggots and Peas special being laid on.
