C:WindowsTempphp588C.tmpIs it me or does it seem City have a habit of mistiming situations? The decision to relieve Ali Yassine of his duties as tannoy announcer less than 24 hours before the new season kicks off has caused a rumpus through social media and given fans another stick to beat the club with.

There are some that have no time for Ali and his tannoy persona but there are many hundreds, if not thousands of others who feel he is an integral part of the club and the matchday experience.

There has been no mention of the decision from the club but Yassine, 51, took to Facebook last night and said

"Hi everyone i.e. fellow Bluebirds,

"I was informed by Cardiff City Football Club today that my services as a stadium announcer are no longer required and my contract has been terminated as of today. This will also apply to Wales games.

"As you can imagine, after almost 15 years in the job, I'm gutted to say the least. However, I just want to take this opportunity to thank you all for the amazing support you've given me over the years. I wouldn't dare presume that I'm everybody's cup of tea but I've loved every minute of it and, thanks to you all, have some fantastic memories.

"Also, good luck to my successor, Richard Sheppard.

"All the best,

"Ali"

Cardiff kick off the new season at 12 noon today when Fulham visit CCS.
