City set to sign 14 year old striker

It's been reported today that 14 year old striker Paul Jones is set to leave Bristol City's Academy and move to Cardiff City's Centre of Excellence. Jones is highly rated and has been at Ashton Gate for the past four years but the youngster from Bridgend is struggling with the travelling between his home and Bristol and a move to Cardiff City would erradicate that problem. A deal has been verbally agreed that could see Cardiff pay upto £200,000 if the lad makes the grade and sees regular first team football. The deal is thought to have several steps at which money will be paid to Bristol City as targets are met.

The Echo reveal today that several other youngsters are joining Cardiff City for trials when the players return to Ninian Park tomorrow. Welsh U21 international Danny Slatter, 21, (Chelsea) - England Youth international Danny Butterfield, 21, (Grimsby) - Wales U18 international Chris Collins (Swindon Town), will join former City target and full Wales international Ryan Green in training with the first team squad. Green was heavilly linked with Cardiff at one time. He is currently at Millwall after playing for Wolves and Torquay Utd.

Short term contract players Kristian Dimond and Ceri Hughes will also report for duty when pre season trainign starts tomorrow. The only player missing out on full training will be Scott Young. The defender is in light training after a summer groin operation.
