City squad for Scandinavia trip

Scott Young, who is trying to overcome a back problem, is the only senior player not to make the trip to Sweden tomorrow. His place has been filled by 17 year old trainee striker Stuart Fleetwood.

The two new signings, John Robinson and Tony Vidmar both make the trip.

The squad will be based in Malmo. The first game against Danish side Koge is being played in Sweden approx 25km south of Malmo. The second game against Frem is over the sea in Copenhagen and then it's back to Malmo for the final game.

The pre season continues for the first team when they travel to Cambridge United on Saturday July 26th (3pm). Then it's a short journey to play Cheltenham at Whaddon Rd on Tuesday July 29th (7:45pm) before the Bluebirds play their only home game. Charlton Athletic visit Ninian Park on Friday August 1st (7:45pm) for Scott Youngs testimonial game. The final pre season game is away at Forest Green on August 5th (7:45pm) but no players who are due to play at Rotherham in the opening game of the season August 9th (3pm) are expected to play at Forest Green.


As for our squad for the coming season we currently have the following.

21 senior players

Goal keepers.

Robert Earnshaw, Gavin Gordon, Andy Campbell, Peter Thorne.

We also have Aaron Lee Barrett, a young goalkeeper who is third choice. Plus we have several first year professionals. Richard Ingram, Byron Anthony, Nicky Fish, Kirk Huggins, Michael Haywood, Michael Parkins and Danny Thomas.

Gethin Jones is training with Cardiff despite being released in the summer. We also have two triallists at Ninian Park at the moment Adam James from Man City and Michael Byrne from Bolton.
