City stars close to new contracts

There has been interest and offers made for these City players but it looks the club might be able to keep hold of them as Dave Jones looks to build his side for the new season.

"Peter Whittingham has verbally agreed a new three year deal," revealed Peter Ridsdale.

"We'll now put that into a contract and he'll sign in next few days. And we are also confident of doing a deal with Roger Johnson.

"We've also put offers to Glenn Loovens and Paul Parry and we hope everything goes well because they all were a part in our success last season.

"The manager Dave Jones has certainly endeared himself to the squad and they want to stay and play for him.

"The players understand that we're building something very special at Cardiff."

Cardiff have already brought in keeper Tomn Heaton from Man Utd on a season long loan, Miguel Commingues, a full back, has arrived from Swindon and new deals have been struck with Peter Enckleman and Riccy Scimeca.

Now can we keep hold of Joe Ledley? Aaron Ramsey has gone (he was given squad No. 16 by Arsene Wenger for the forthcoming Premier League campaign) but news on Ledley has gone very quiet. Hopefully the rest of football will have forgotten about him and he'll start the new season in a City shirt.

It's certainly very promising that we are trying to tie down our players rather than hawking them around for the best price.
