City stay top as Birmingham and Burnley fail

Birmingham were level on points with Cardiff and would have gone top if they had picked up a point at Elland Rd but Leeds under caretaker boss John Carver won 3 - 2 thanks to a Tebily o.g in the 85th minute. Earlier in the game Tony Warner scored an own goal as well.

Burnley were second and needed a big home win to catch City but they blew it and lost 3 - 2 to Southampton.

Wins this weekend for Preston, Palace and Wolves mean that before City play Southend today the top 6 are all within one point of each other.
