City still in touch after Tuesday's football

"I don't know what we have done to deserve it. We have come away with nothing again." Ray Lewington.
Preston's 2 - 1 win at Deepdale over Watford sees the Lilywhites move above City and so drop us a place to 10th. Watford came back from going a goal down to level and looked good for a draw until Northern Irish striker David Healy scored Preston's winner in injury time.

Nottingham Forest and Crewe both missed the chance to climb above City. Forest were thumped 4 - 1 at Walsall while Crewe lost 2 - 0 at Sheffield Utd. Both teams are on 24 points, the same as Cardiff, but both have played a game more.

Sunderland got back to scoring ways after 3 games without a goal. They beat Gillingham 3 - 1 at the Priestfield to move into 4th place. Just 2 points off leaders Wigan.
