City v Rangers. Match preview

Last updated : 17 November 2006 By Michael Morris
City face Q.P.R. tonight in a match that could stretch City's lead to 6 points.

There will be changes to the City line up though with James Chambers back at Watford it looks like Dave Jones will give a full league debut to 17 year old Chris Gunter at right back.

It's hoped that Paul Parry will be fit to play after missing out on the Wales squad in midweek with a dead leg. Willo Flood is out of the squad with an injury but we could welsome back Steve Thompson who has been training this week.

City probable

Alexander, Gunter, Purse, Loovens, McNaughton, Parry, McPhail, Scimeca, Ledley, Chopra, Campbell.

Subs possible: Howard, Johnson, Thompson, Kamara, Blake.

The game is live on Sky and goes head to head with Wales v Canada at the Millennium Stadium. Those factors will affect the crowd for sure but let's hope the City support turns up to back the top team in the division at the moment.

Q.P.R. have won their last two games, with last saturday's 3 - 2 win at Luton their 2nd away win of the season. They sit 15 points behind City in 18th place but are still above Palace, Sunderland and Leeds. On league positions this is a home banker.

If Chris Gunter plays at right back his job will be to mark Rangers' talented Lee Cook. The winger is in fine form and a threat in attack but Rangers are still a struggling team with defensive issues, they have conceded 30 goals this season, one of only 5 clubs to let in 30 or more.

So come on, get yourselves to Ninian Park for tonight's game. We've waited long enough for a team challenging for promotion to the Premiership, now we've got one let's support it.
