Danny Coles said of the news that Cardiff had recently bid £500,000 for him

"I am still a City player and all my thoughts are concentrated on starting the season well at Ashton Gate.

"The chairman called me in a few weeks ago and told me that Cardiff had offered half a million pounds for me. He said the club didn't consider it enough and had therefore turned the bid down.

"That's it as far as I am concerned. I'm ambitious to further my career, but whether the club sell me or not is out of my hands.

"I don't want to know what City value me at. I just want to keep my feet on the ground and all I can say about the Cardiff bid is that it has come as a boost to my confidence to know they were willing to pay such a lot of money."
