Collins and Gabbi-gone to West Ham

Good luck to both players, fine servants to Cardiff City. Danny has been one the best defenders City have seen and is already an established international. His Country will benefit from him playing at the highest level. The same goes for James. I think Alan Pardew sees Gabbidon as the finished article ready to play first team football immediately. I hope Ginge gets his chance as well.

Exact monies have not been announced but it's though the deal is worth around £3m+ for the pair of them dependent on various clauses. Cardiff have to pay West Brom 15% of the Gabbdion fee and hopefully we have inserted our own sell on clauses as well. West Ham say both have been signed on long contracts

So the departure lounge at Cardiff City has been busy in the past week. Out have gone Lee Bullock, Peter Thorne and now James and Danny. They join Tony Vidmar, Aaran Lee Barratt, Jobi McAnuff and Darren Williams. 8 players gone so far this summer with the club probably still looking to loan out or sell Richard Langley, Alan Lee and Andy Campbell - I guess possibly the three biggest earners left at the club with Tony Warner.

What or who do we have left.

The senior squad is now down to 18 players.

G/K - Neil Alexander, Martyn Margetson and Tony Warner

Def - Rhys Weston, Chris Barker, Byron Anthony.

Mid - Neal Ardley, Willie Boland, Nicky Fish, Toni Koskela, Richard Langley, Joe Ledley, Jeff Whitley, Paul Parry

Att - Alan Lee, Andy Campbell, Stuart Fleetwood, Cameron Jerome

Of those 18 players three are keepers. Fish, Anthony, Fleetwood and Koskela have rarely if at all seen league action. Jerome and Ledley are only just old enough to buy a beer.

Dave Jones will have to bring in several players. The money received from the player sales and the wages and bonusses saved will mean that Jones can bring in players on lower and probably more realistic wages to the ones being paid to the "stars" who failed to take this team to the top of the Championship.

What sort of budget Jones will to work with is anyone's guess. It's going to be a testing tme for Jones and he's going to need the support of the fans. We will see a different Cardiff City next season but it's still Cardiff City nonetheless.
