Birmingham City 1 - 0 Cardiff City.

Referee David Coote awarded Birmingham City a penalty in first half injury for handball against Matt Connolly. The replays showed that the ball struck Connolly in the face but despite protestations from the Cardiff players the referee pointed to the spot.

Up stepped Pail Caddis to greatfully accept the gift and the goal turned out to be the winner as Cardiff failed to capitalised on periods of play and chances that should have produced enough goals to win the game.

The defeat, cooupled with results elsewhere this weekend mean City will be in 9th place for Christmas.

Next up is a trip to Milton Keynes to face an inconsistent MK Dons on Boxing Day.
