"Cardiff are a difficult team. They are well balanced and Dave got them to the FA Cup final last year", he told the official Reading website.
"They have brought in some significant loan signings like Routledge and Chopra who have given a boost to the team.
"We realise we are going to have to be at our best and it is a demanding period with two games in three days, but the Birmingham result has set us up nicely.
