Council sign off planning consents

We have now entered the 90 day judicial period before building can start.

A statement from Peter Ridsdale on the official website www.cardiffcityfc.co.uk reads

First of all I would like to apologise to all of our supporters for the uncertainty that has surrounded the future of the Club and its stadium project as a result of the press reports over the last few days.

I am delighted to be able to confirm that an agreement was reached just before noon today (Friday 22nd December 2006) whereby Sam Hammam and his Company Rudgwick have signed an irrevocable undertaking to vote in favour of the Club's financial and management restructuring proposals at the forthcoming EGM.

This decision has allowed the council to today sign off the planning consents for the new stadium project and to enter into the 90 day Judicial review period, at the end of which building can start. Following the EGM the Club will have the money to support it financially and to build the new stadium.

I would like to thank each and every one of you for your patience and understanding over the last few days, to wish you and your families a very happy Christmas and hope that we can look forward to an exciting and successful second half of the season.

Peter
