Curtain drops on another season

nolanThere can be no complaints about the size of the defeat (3 - 0 on Monday at Upton Park and 5 - 0 on agg) and it shows just how much better West Ham were than City.

City's mission very difficult became Mission Impossible when Kevin Nolan (right) headed West Ham into the lead inside 15 mins.

Ricardo Vaz Te's rocket gave the game a half time scoreline it deserved with Cardiff clearly 2nd best.

Like the first leg West Ham were happy to sit on their two goal lead and only attacked when the opportunity arose and as the clock ticked into the 90th minute sub Nicky Manynard let rip another thunderbolt that David Marshall could do nothing about.

Making the top six was beyond expectations and taking Liverpool to a penalty shoot out at Wembley would never have been dreamed of before the season started but for all our getting close we have still ended up as the bridesmaids.

Here's hoping that malky Mackay gets the backing of the board to have a proper summer of getting a team together who can challenge for promotion and this time in the top two.
