Danny Coyne in negotiations with City

Coyne's name has been linked with City for several months but only 24 hours after the Wales international goalkeeper was transfer listed by Grimsby Town it's been confirmed at todays press conference that Lennie has already started negotiations with the keeper.

Coyne, along with striker Phil Jevons were put on the list by cash starved Grimsby. If they both leave the Mariners are down to only 11 professionals on their books.

Coyne is a quality keeper and would be a far more experienced keeper than Neil Alexander if he came to Ninian Park. Lennie has always said he is looking for a No.2 to Neil Alexander, someone to offer competition to Neil. Coyne would certainly offer that.

Coyne was shocked at being transfer listed, he said yesterday

"It hasn't sunk in yet and I'm just getting on with training. As far as I'm concerned I'm a Grimsby Town player until somebody tells me otherwise. I'm shocked and surprised. That's all I want to say about it."

It's also been rumoured that Everton are also interested.

Also at the press conference it was revealed that Chris Barker has signed a 4 year deal. A full interview with Chris Barker can be found here on the official site.
