"It helps to be a lucky manager and today that was certainly the case.

"I would have been disappointed at not being given a penalty after that tackle but that's the way it goes.

"At this stage of the season it is all about luck and determination and even though the difference between the two halves was incredible the papers will give three points to Cardiff and we can take that on to the training ground on Monday.

"All we can do is win games and ride our luck so let's enjoy the victory, regroup and look forward to visiting Wolves next week."

"I felt sorry for my players as all the other results appear to have gone against us.

"The players really came up with the goods today and we dominated the second half yet couldn't get a goal we deserved.

"It is strange but I'm really quite pleased with the way the lads played and we must take the positives out of this performance.

"The players are gutted but we have to build on this as anyone watching the match would never have thought we were a bottom four side."

In the 78th minute Yohan Folly went down in the box after a challenge from Purse but referee Lee Probert waved play on.

"I would like to see that again as it looked like a penalty to me," said Sturrock.
