Dave Jones pre Plymouth

"We're in a great position in the league, said Jones. "And, if you had asked fans if they would be happy with sixth place on goal difference at Christmas, I bet they would have been.

"A lot has gone on in the last week, but the one thing I never wanted to do was use it as an excuse. I don't think it has had any bearing whatsoever on us not winning games.

"The teams at the top have to keep churning out results now, and that's not easy.

"Maybe the pressure is on them now and off us a little bit, and if we can get a few new faces it gives us a better chance of breaking out again."

Plymouth boss Ian Holloway would prefer not to play on Boxing Day

"I would rather spend Boxing Day with my family," he said.

"There is a huge cost for all these people to watch games, added to the cost of Christmas. We have all got to deal with it and we will be up for it."
