"I hadn't spoken to anybody regarding what the papers are saying," said Jones.
"It was an easy decision to make. I've come to do a job and it's still got a long way to go but with a new stadium going to take place and everything else falling into place there's something special going to happen to this football club.
"Everything is geared to be a fantastic fooball club in a fantastic stadium and I want to be part of it"
Sam Hammam was delighted he secured Jones' signature.
'This was important for the future of Cardiff City,' Hammam told the Echo.
'Dave Jones is staying with us and Terry Burton will be working alongside him as first team coach.'
'Maybe we could have a player, perhaps two, in by the end of this week.
'But it may be a short time before things really begin in earnest.'
