Dogs Life for Earnie

Hot on the heels of Robert Earnshaw’s marvellous treble at Boston last night, a greyhound named in honour of the City fans’ favourite is shooting for his own personal hat-trick at Walthamstow Stadium on Saturday night.

Bob Bank Earnie, who is owned by a syndicate of London-based City fans, “The M4 Racing Club”, has won his last two races at the famous East London dog track, and runs at 9 p.m. in an A5 race. Earnie is in good company at trainer Gary Baggs’ Rosewood Kennels situated in Langley, Berkshire, where Gary also trains dogs owned by Welsh hero John Hartson, and ex-Wales skipper Vinnie Jones.

Like his namesake, Earnie has shown devastating early pace which has left his rivals sprawling in the sand, and has won the last two races he has contested by 3 lengths. Even, the lightning-fast City striker, would be hard-pushed to keep up, Bob Bank Earnie covers over 16 metres of the track every second.

With two wins under his belts from 5 starts, since arriving in the UK from Ireland, Earnie is delighting his owners. If he keeps improving and progressing, the plan is to take him on the road to contest some Open Races at tracks around the country. Although, as the dog moves up the grades with more success, the races are inevitably going to become tougher.

It's just a pity that there is no longer a venue for big-time greyhound racing in South Wales, where Earnie could show his pace in front of an admiring audience of City fans.
