Double Scotch for Thompson during Happy Hour

What was a drab game with little goalmouth action burst into life with three goals in 5 minutes.

Thomspon was in the right place at the right time when keeper Jesen spilled a cross and the Scotsman gleefully sidedfooted into the empty net.

The crowd had hardly sat down when a ball into Thompson on the edge of the area was superbly controlled before the striker turned and fired an unstoppable shot past the helpless Burnley keeper.

The scoring was all over just three minutes after that when Jason Koumas met a pin point Neal Ardley cross to make it 3 - 0.

Cameron Jerome nearly added a 4th when his curling effort went just wide.

And so the game petered out. Burnley had little attacking intent with top scoer Adi Akinbiyi reduced to one volley over the bar while Jon Harley forced Neil Alexander into a first half save.

There's very little else to say about the game. Darren Purse went off injured after running into Akinbiyi. Riccardo Scimeca came on as a sub to make his debut and Nsungu came on for the last 30 seconds. I don't think he touched the ball.

The only other thing to report on was the half time entertainment. The "stars" of Dirty Sanchez (The UK's equivilent to Jackass) were made to stand in the Grange End goal wearing just jockstraps while several people fired shots at their bare buttocks.

One of the kickers was Burnley's Gifton Noel Williams and a kilted City fan amongst others. I guess you either love it or hate it. It was quite funny when they got hit.

And that was that.
