The 33 year old centre back has told Watford he is leaving and he should complete a free transfer to Cardiff City.

It was confirmed by Feyenoord last night that 21 year old Glenn Loovens has made the move to Ninian Park for a seasons long loan.

Neither of these players have yet been mentioned by Cardiff City itself.

Neil Cox has played 460 league games in his career which includes over 100 games for Middlesbrough who paid Aston Villa £1m for him and the 80 games for Bolton who paid 'Boro £1.5m. Since 1999 he's been at Vicarage Rd and has scored 20 goals in 215 league starts.

City are also linked today to Scotland U21 skipper Jamie McCunnie. The 22 year old midfielder was said by the Western Mail to be in Cardiff and has had talks with Dave Jones and Sam Hammam.

Seaking to the Western Mail Dave Jones told of what's currently happening at Ninian Park.

"There are a lot of things going on. I'm working hard to get people in with Sam and Peter Ridsdale, but players are keeping their options open," said Jones.

"This is what players who are in demand do. It's nothing new in football. I'm frustrated because I would like to have all my players here now, but we have to work to the players' time-scale and not ours.

"I've got no complaints about the players here. They work hard and, after speaking to the staff who were here before me, spirit has never been a problem.

"But we need to get players in. I need to put together a squad that can go through a 46-game campaign as well as cup games. At the moment, I haven't got that.

"You can't rely on kids. If you throw them in the deep end when they're not ready then you will do them more harm than good."
