Earnie closing in on scoring record

Set in the 1946/7 season Richards' record has never been beaten but could this be the season.

Rob Earnshaw sits on 21 league goals so far this season. 9 short of equalling the record and 10 short of breaking it. There are still 21 league games to go.

Earnshaw himself is keeping his feet on the ground. He told the Echo.

"The priority this season is promotion for Cardiff City and that means what happens to Robert Earnshaw remains secondary to that. I'm not thinking about the record. I'll just try to keep scoring and hopefully it will come. It would be a great honour. If I don't do it, though, it doesn't matter - as long as we go up."

Earnie in fact has 25 goals so far, 4 of them in the cup including the first strike in the comeback against Coventry. The other cup goals all came at Boston when the young Wales international scored a hat trick.

In the league this season Earnie has scored

v Oldham x 1
v Stockport x 1
v Brentford x 1
v Plymouth x 2
v Crewe x 2
v Wigan x 2
v Tranmere x 1
v Peterborough x 1
v Barnsley x 2
v QPR x 3
v Colchester x 2
v Huddersfield x 2
v Swindon x 1
