Earnie feasts on Hungary pains

Last updated : 01 April 2004 By Michael Morris
City's leading striker Robert Earnshaw has taken to the European stage again and netted the winner for Wales in Budapest.

Earnie picked up on the most bizarre misplaced pass and broke free on goal before checking inside the defender and shooting past the helpless keeper.

Earnie now has 7 international goals in 11 caps and so far this season has scored 30 goals when you tally up league / cup and internationals.

There were no caps for Martyn Margetson or James Collins as Mark Hughes made few changes in a game that was a battle at times. There were over 50 free kicks given by the referee and the game ended in a mass brawl.

Hungary took the lead when Daniel Gabbidon conceded a dodgy penalty, Jason Koumas levelled for Wales with a direct free kick immediately after. Earnie got his goal 10 mins from the end.

Still the end result is a Wales win and Earnie getting the winner.
