Earnie wants a chance at the record

Daniel Gabbidon will miss the trip with an injury picked up against Wigan last Saturday but the main focus is on Robert Earnshaw.

Earnie stands on 30 league goals, equal with Stan Richards' record that has stood for over half a century. One more in the last game would beat it. Earnie has been on 30 goals since scoring the winner against Mansfield, now 7 games later Earnie is still waiting. In fact it's been over 6 hours since any City player has scored a goal.

"I want to play and I'm not a great fan of being rested. I want to play in every game. It's up to the manager who plays but I will be disappointed if I'm not playing at Crewe. The manager might now be looking ahead at the play-offs and getting through that is what matters." Earnie told the Western Mail.

"Everyone else keeps going on about this record, not me. If it happens, it happens. But whatever happens, I've still scored 34 this season.

It has been an unbelievable season for me. Now I want to top it off with promotion. I've scored loads of goals. I've enjoyed all the games I've played in and I'm still enjoying them."

Crewe have just about sold out all their tickets for Saturdays promotion celebration, The Railwaymen plan to let the 1500 or so Cardiff City fans out of the ground before allowing their own fans onto the pitch to celebrate finishing runners up to Wigan and the subsequent promotion.

Cardiff could finish 3rd in Division 2 or 6th, only one point seperates the four play off teams. If we finish 3rd or 4th we will be away in the first leg of the play offs. 5th or 6th and we will be at home first.
