England cap for Jay makes City history

Cardiff of course have had dozens of internationals before. Welsh, Scottish, Irish, Hungarian etc the list goes on. But to have a player represent the English (a team in the top 10 in the world) is a huge achievement and Jay becomes the first.

He came off the bench when England were 2 nil down at Wembley to France. In the 18 mins he was on the pitch England managed to get a goal back (scored by Peter Crouch), created from a corner won by Jay.

The media have slaughtered the English team in the press but Jay has escaped the criticism with a decent effort in his time on the pitch.

"You want to play at the highest level possible in your career; you want to achieve things," Bothroyd said after the game. "The highest level is international football."

Bothroyd has already made history after becoming the first Cardiff player to represent England.

"My goal at the beginning of the season was to get promotion," he said.

"This has all come very thick and fast and it's almost surreal.

"I'm happy that I'm in the history books.

"Obviously, it's back to Championship now, this weekend. That's what I'm concentrating on and hopefully I can get invited back in the future."

Congratulations Jay. We are all proud of you.
