A strong England U21 side overcame a determined Wales team with second half goals from James Milner and Darren Bent.

On loan Bluebird Gary O'Neil skippered England to their third win in the current competition while for Wales Byron Anthony and Danny Parslow both started. Nicky Fish was an unused sub.

Englad were uge favourites for the game with a line up that included Premiership players like Jermaine Pannant, Jon Stead, Carlton Cole, James Milner and Stuart Downing. Wales though had the best chance of the first half when a David Vaughan effort from 20 yards came back off the post.

Wales had survived early pressure and for periods in the first half retained possession and frustrated their hosts.

The second half was only 29 seconds old when a ball over the top found Milner who smashed the ball home for England to lead. Wales had struggled all game to get men forward in the box and the task of getting back into the match was too much and the win for England was sealed with a Darren Bent header to make it 2 - 0.
