Everton latest team linked with Earnie

If you believe the rumours from a couple of weeks ago Robert Earnshaw was on his way to Charlton in a deal worth £4m upfront and another £1m on appearances etc.

Then Earnie talk went quiet. Now out of the blue comes news that he could be heading to Merseyside and Everton.

It would appear that Sunday Newspapers made the claim and it's impressed the BBC and the Western Mail enough to make a fuss of it. This time the deal is worth £3m up front with another £1m on appearances and stuff.

If he is going I'd prefer the Charlton deal, we'd get more money.

If Robert Earnshaw want's to leave Cardiff City then best of luck to him. His goals have got us to where we are and with only 2 years left on his contract if we do not cash in on him now then his value will drop and he can walk away in 24 months. If Robert Earnshaw leaves now and we have ended up with 1st division football and a few million quid then we've done very well from him and we should wish him all the best.

There will be a hue and cry if he goes, of course there will, comparisons will be make to the sale of John Toshack over 30 years ago. But if he stays and is unhappy the goals will dry up and the chances of a lucrative transfer will diminish.

I'd love nothing more than to see Earnie fired up and ready to start the new season at Gresty Rd on August 7th. I hope that's the case but if he has decided to move on, he's ambitious and looking towards his own future, then there's little we can do to stop him.

Where will Everton get the money from? I hear you ask, well it gets a bit complicated then as we enter into Wayne's World. Mr Rooney is said to be leaving Goodison Park and the untold millions that will bring Everton FC will easily cover the fee for Robert Earnshaw. Everton have already signed Marcus Bent from Ipswich on a three year deal.

Will it happen? With only 40 days before Cardiff City kick off the new 2004 / 2005 Coca Cola Championship we won't have long to wait to find out.
