Exeter hold Utd at Old Trafford. FA Cup round up

The two Manchester teams were involved in the days biggest upsets. Non league Exeter City went to Old Trafford and drew 0 - 0 while Manchester City were beaten 1 - 0 by lowly neighbours Oldham.

Aston Villa were beaten at Sheffield Utd, Crystal Palace went out at Sunderland and Norwich were another Premiership to be beaten by league opposition. They went down by a goal to nil at West Ham.

Robert Earnshaw scored twice as WBA won for ther first time under Bryan Robson.

Scunthorpe led Chelsea at Stamford Bridge at one stage before going down three goals to one. Notts County also led against Premiership opposition but Middlesbrough came back to win.

Former Bluebirds Richie Carpenter and Alan Mahon scored for Brighton and Wigan respectively but both ended up on the losing sides against Spurs and Derby.

League two team Yeovil thumped Championship strugglers Rotherham 3 - 0 at Millmoor while our West Walian cousins Swansea were 2 mins from a win at Reading but had to settle for a replay.

3rd round scores (29 played of 32 matches). Three ties are still to be played.
Burnely v Liverpool (18th Jan), Arsenal v Stoke and Yeading v Newcastle (both 9th Jan).
