Falkirk v City. Match preview

Last updated : 23 July 2005 By Michael Morris
SPL new boys Falkirk, entertain Cardiff City this afternoon, ko 3:00pm.

City have had a successful week with victories over Accrington, Hamilton and Kilmarnock and the tour ends today in Falkirk.

City's first team squad then return to Cardiff for home matches on Wednesday against Udinese and next Sunday agaianst WBA. The new season kicks off in just 2 weeks time.

Dave Jones will have another chance to look at triallists Mulryne, McCunnie and Ferretti and also the mystery Nigerian striker who it appears is Igho Othegheri. There is some fuss involving the FAW over Othegheri's eligability to play but that seems a minor issue as he's expected to start todays game.

Jones has given the two goalkeepers equal time on the pitch and all the players on tour have seen action. As it stands now the central defensive pairing of Cox and Loovens is loking good but if Purse arrives then I would expect Cox and Purse to start at Ipswich.

We'll have some more clues after todays game and I would expect Dave Jones to make some more signings during the coming week as he looks to complete his squad ready for Aug 6th.
