Burnley and Middlesbrough will play in the Premier league next season after taking the two automatic promotion places.
Brighton missed out and will have face Sheffield Wedesday in the play offs. Hull and Derby compete in the other play off semi final.
Bolton, Charlton and MK Dons had all previously been relegated.
City ended up 8th after the 1 - 1 draw with Birmingham allowed Ipswich to sneak into 7th with their 1 - 0 win at Derby.
