For the benefit of Andy Legg

Cardiff City have planned a benefit match for Andy Legg next Spring. The plan is to have a bluebirds past and present evening at Ninian Park. Former team mates like Robert Earnshaw, Peter Thorne, Leo Fortune-West, Gary Croft, Gareth Ainsworth, Graham Kavanagh, Scott Young and Jason Bowen have already agreed to come and  Robbie Savage will also make a guest appearance, while more players are being contacted.

Legg left the Bluebirds after the play off final in 2003. Since then he continued to play league football with Peterborough and recently has overcome cancer treatment.

'The response from my old Cardiff team-mates has been outstanding, they are all keen to play,' Legg told the Echo. 'Sam Hammam has been magnificent in all this, he has gone out of his way to help.

'This is not about money, it's about saying thanks to fans who were good to me at Cardiff City.

'I didn't have that chance because of the way my time at Ninian Park ended. My last game was at the Millennium Stadium, but I didn't know it was my last game then.

'Now I can go back out onto the pitch and say a big thank you to people who mean a lot to me.
