He, along with Stuart Fleetwood, Anthony Taylor and Lloyd Jenkins were returning from a reserve team friendly at Hereford on Monday afternoon, when their car was in collision with a lorry in Monmouth.

A spokesman for Gwent Police said

"All four were taken to hospital to be treated for their injuries.

"Stuart, Lloyd and Anthony received minor injuries, Stuart having already been released and Lloyd and Anthony kept in overnight.

"Nicholas received serious injuries and is currently in a stable condition."

Nicky's brother was with him in hospital last night and his parents, with the assistance of the club, were returning from a family holiday.

Can I wish Nicky all the best in his recovery and strength to his family. We also wish a speedy recovery to the other three lads as well. Our thoughts are with all of you.
