FT Cardiff 2 - 3 Brentford. Late rally not enough

Well that was terrible. Just looking at matters on the pitch is was a shocker. City were run ragged by a dynamic and pacey Brentford side.

City meanwhile were too slow and too predictable. The only exceptions were Craig Noone and Kadeem Harris. Harris has staked a claim to keep his place in the side and if Russell Slade can modernise his thinking a bit Noone and Harris could help this side to improve.

Despite being part of the defence that conceded three goals there was a decent performance from Bruno Manga, especially in the second half as he looked to play some football, while his defensive partner Ben Turner used the 40 yard hoof as his only out ball.

City were three down at half time and while some boo'd the team off the pitch dozens and dozens, probably hundreds walked out vowing not to come back.

Cardiff had chances though, just their efforts were tamed and routine whereas Brentford's goals were varied and full of quality.

Federico Macheda and Adam LeFondre were very disappointing and there were cheers when Russell Slade finally withdrew Macheda for Kenwynne Jones in the second half.

Goals in the second half from Noone and Jones saw the Bluebirds just one behind with 15 minutes to go. But there was no onslaught, it wasn't like the Alamo, infact it took until injury time for City to fire anything like a serious shot on goal.

So that's three poor efforts in the last three games. City's winning run at home seems a distant memory and the way they are playing you wonder where the next win is going to come from.

Can I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and thanks for your readership of this website.
