Gavin was released by Lennie Lawrence last month.
The signing will officially take place in just under a month with the Magpies boss telling the Notts County Official website
“He’s a striker that’s been top of my list for a while, and I am delighted to sign him. I’ve brought him to the club to score us goals, and I’m confident he will do that. He’s a big lad and is the target man who I have been looking for and I am very pleased that he’s signed for us despite plenty of clubs chasing him.”
