The award, which was won last year by Derby County's Lewin Nyatanga, recognises a top apprentice player coming through the ranks at a Championship club.
The candidates up for the award this season include Christopher Gunter (Cardiff City), Nicky Featherstone (Hull City), Jonathan Lund (Leeds United), Eric Odhiambo (Leicester City), David McClements (Sheffield Wednesday) and Adam Rooney (Stoke City).
The Apprentice Trophy will be presented at this season's Football League Awards ceremony in London on 4th March.
