Half time challenge at Ninian Park

Last updated : 27 September 2005 By Michael Morris
As well the usual kids game on the pitch at half time at home games a new form of entertainment has appeared.

Five "normal" people make fools of themselves by trying to kick a football the furthest. You aim in a goal bound direction but I've yet to see anyone get close to the goal line let alone score.

If you went to the Carling Cup game with Macclesfield you may have seen me have a nightmare by managing to kick the ball to the edge of the centre circle, definately not one of my better kicks.

Well, this weekend at half time during the game v Luton I get the chance to redeem myself. Not only that but ace reporter NigelBlues has also offered to have a go and run the risk of being ridiculed for the rest of his life.

We are joined by messageboard regulars Earnies Trimm Trabs and The Lone Gunman. There will be a 5th contestant but at the time of writing that person cannot be confirmed.

So if you are undecided on whether to come to Ninian Park on Saturday hopefully the chance to see grown men who talk a good game actually try to kick a ball for real, may persuede you to come along.

If you fancy taking part then please drop me an email to m4morris@cardiffcity.com  with your name and contact number and I'll pass it along to the half time organiser who will be in touch with you ahead of future games.
