“Obviously I’m pleased. I was delighted with the way we played.

Once we conceded the goal we showed a lot of character and played some good stuff on the front foot. We created some good chances in the game.

"It was disappointing to concede the goal but we should have scored many more. Smithies was really good again but we still ploughed on and got the goals.

“It is great to have the five wins though and I love watching this team. It’s not just about winning, it’s the way we win.

"I'm not getting ahead of myself and it's for the fans to dream, but if we can stick around in the top four until October then I'll be really happy and we can really focus on the play-offs."

Ian Holloway:

"On the balance of play, that as good a Cardiff team as I've seen.

"Both wide men look back to their best, the big man (Zohore) is a handful, they were well organised, big and strong and played some good stuff.

"But I thought we did as well. I'm not too downhearted and disappointed.

"Well done to Neil, I thought his team were at it and I thought the crowd helped them, but on the balance of play I thought they just nicked it. It's certainly going for them at the minute, and they're making it go for them.

"Not one was out of position, not one got caught in it and not one made a selfish decision and took a risk, they looked a real solid unit.

"They've certainly got some potency up top, bringing on Danny Ward from the bench. It looks like the Bluebirds are buzzing.

"Mendez-Laing scoring five in however many, well done son. I bet that's beyond Neil's wildest dreams but he's a wily old fox isn't he."
