The Northern Irish striker needs to have an operation to help him back to full fitness.

Feeney was linked with a move to Leeds but it looks like the hip problem was found out during his medical.

"Medical staff tell us it's exactly the same problem Roger Johnson had last season," Peter Ridsdale told the Echo. "Warren is back with us and will have surgery to sort out his hip. He'll be back to 100 per cent in a short time."

Feeney has also been linked with Grimsby Town.
