Hudson looking for Christmas double

Bottom placed Plymouth visit Cardiff on Saturday (1:00pm) and then City travel to Peterborough on Monday (3:00pm).

Skipper Mark Hudson is looking for the Bluebirds to pick up maximum points.

"We've got to keep our foot on the gas and keep going," said Hudson, 27.

"If you said at the beginning of the season we are going to be third and still pushing, we are going to take that.

"We are not even at half way. We are not getting carried away. There's still a long, long way to go."

The Bluebirds have turned their form around after a winless November saw them drop out of the top six.

But three wins on the bounce against Preston, West Bromwich Albion and Middlesbrough has seen Dave Jones' side back in contention.

They had to sit out the weekend though after their home match with fellow promotion-chasers Leicester was called off due to a frozen pitch because the undersoil heating was not fully operational.

"We were obviously disappointed the game was off the other day but we can't do anything about that now and have to focus on the next game," said Hudson.

Cardiff have confirmed the undersoil heating is now fully operational and their Boxing Day showdown with Plymouth will "definitely go ahead."

Now Hudson wants his Cardiff team to turn the heat up on the Championship leaders.

"If we can keep the run going that we are on and hopefully get six points out of these two games, it puts us right back up in the mix of things."

And Hudson is aware that although Plymouth and Peterborough are languishing in the relegation zone and have replaced their respective managers, they are not going to be pushovers.

"We've still got to work as hard as we have been working in the last three games to get things out of the game" he added.

"They are obviously under pressure and need points so we will have to be right at it to get six points for sure."
