Injury blow as MacLean ruled out for 3 months

Steve MaClean ruptured ankle ligaments and faces a three month lay off. Riccy Scimeca, on his attempts to return to fitness, suffered a breakdown in the same groin area that's kept him out since last season.

"Its a massive blow for both players and the club and I'll have to sit down with the chairman to discuss bringing somebody in," Jones told the South Wales Echo.

"Steve will be out for three months and Riccy has torn a muscle in the same part of the groin.

"He gets to a certain level and it breaks down again, he will see a specialist today and we will know more later."

City loaned Warren Feeney to Swansea last week. Robbie Fowler and Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink are left as the main strikers and both of them are still not fully fit yet.

Only last week Darren Purse was having an op on a knee problem. It's not been a great week as far as injuries are concerned.
