The 29 year old defender has failed to make a first team appearance for the Trotters this season but his arrivial will still strengthen City's back line and probably pave the way for Kevin McNaughton to move to centre back alongside Dekel Keinan with Samuel playing left back, his favoured position. City are struggling in that department after Mark Hudson's injury.
Samuel has 7 England U21 caps and was at Aston Villa before moving to Bolton.
