Johnson: Too good a chance to miss

Cardiff have signed the 23 year old defender for a fee of £275,000 plus a 15% sell on clause. He has been handed a three year contract at City and he has been talking to the Bucks Free Press about his move.

"I'm sorry to be leaving Wycombe because I have been there since I was 16 but this was too good a chance to miss."

"It is what every player craves for. It is what I have wanted since I was a young kid. To be one league away from the best league in the world is an achievement and something I couldn't turn down.

"I hope the Wycombe fans will understand. I hope they don't think that I just wanted out. I love this club and it wasn't an easy decision but I had to take this opportunity.

"I don't want to be one of those people who in ten years time says I could have made it, I want to be someone who has tried and done everything I can to make it.

"I'm not jumping ship, I'm taking a promotion to go to bigger things."

Nerves

"It feels weird that someone should think I am worth £275,000. I have always looked at the transfer fees and I never thought it would happen to me.

"I'm nervous about going to a new club and meeting new teammates and I'm nervous about the level because I don't know if I am good enough, but I will be giving it everything I have got.

"Cardiff are a big club who are going places. They are looking to get to the promised land and I knew as soon as I got there that I wanted to sign."
