Jones and O'Driscoll pre match comments

Dave Jones has warned Craig Bellamy he's just one of the lads.

"If he doesn't toe the line, he will be treated like everybody else." said the City boss.

"If he has his mobile on in the dining room then, just like anybody else, he will be fined.

"We have been fortunate enough to acquire a top player from the Premier League. But he's no different to anybody else in the camp. It's not just about Craig.

"We are a team, a close-knit team, and he will add to that. Craig will have to earn his shirt. He will start against Doncaster Rovers today and I will expect certain standards.

"I will be very, very surprised if I have one argument outside of football with Craig. We will have many arguments on football because of the expectations I will put on him and those he will put on me. But, outside of that, we won't have any."

Jones laughed off talk of Bellamy being a "problem player,"

"Paul Ince, Carlton Palmer and Matt Le Tissier were so-called problem players," said Jones.

"Those players expect a lot and put high demands on themselves. They also put those same demands on those around them. I have the same desires, same commitment. Good people, good players demand the best.

"When they see you are trying to achieve they are not a problem. It's when people aren't doing it or doing it wrong that problems arise. Those players only become a problem if you drop off in standards."

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll could not contain his surprise that Man City had let Craig Bellamy go.

"I am still gobsmacked that Manchester City have got 25 players better than Craig Bellamy," said O'Driscoll, referring to new rules relating to squad sizes in the Premier League.

"But, if I was in Dave Jones's shoes, I would be delighted that someone of that quality has got family in Cardiff. I just wish he had family in Doncaster because maybe we could have got him.

"I don't know what problems Cardiff have got but we all live in debt, we all have mortgages, and the whole world revolves around debt," added the Rovers manager.

"As long as you are able to service those debts, people will lend you money, and I can't see the problem. If you have an opportunity to sign Craig Bellamy, you would be a fool to turn it down.

"We have to be brave but we don't treat the game any differently just because Craig Bellamy is playing," he stressed. "If we did that I would be asking questions. We are a team that has to live with resources that are not as good as everyone else's - and there are certain boxes we have to tick every week to give ourselves a chance."
